Danny Payne – President
With the purchase of one red and white dump truck, Daniel E. Payne founded Payne Trucking in Brandy, VA in 1971. Throughout the course of his forty year career in the trucking industry, “Danny” has participated in all aspects of the company. He knows what it is like to drive a dump truck or a tractor trailer, to replace a worn-out engine or assess tire wear, to dispatch a load, or answer the telephone.
Danny and his dedicated team of office professionals and drivers built a large and thriving business over the years, with more than one hundred fifty company units actively on the road. But in 2010 he decided to sell both his successful van and brokerage divisions and to return to his first love – the dump truck business.
Since that time Danny has moved the company to a larger facility that is currently undergoing renovation. In addition, he has assembled a diverse management team and support personnel staff who operate the business under his guidance. Every team member at Payne Trucking today recognizes that the customer is the focus. It is Payne Trucking’s ability to adapt to customer needs that has always been, andremains, the trademark of the company.
Vicki Smith – Chief Financial Officer
Vicki is a native of upstate New York. She relocated to Virginia as military spouse in 1993; attended Monterey Peninsula College in Monterey, California and Strayer University. Vicki was employed by Payne Trucking in 1994 as an office assistant and was promoted to office manager in 1998. She enjoys the outdoors and afternoons on the Potomac River.
Marc Simes – Chief Operations Officer
Marc Simes has been working in the heavy equipment industry since he was a teenager. He has learned transportation and construction from the ground up, and has worked in numerous capacities during his career. He brings over 30 years’ experience as Senior Project Manager/ Vice President in the heavy highway and residential construction industries to Payne Trucking. He has overseen several multi-million dollar transportation projects throughout the eastern United States and proven himself a great communicator and a results-oriented professional. It is this leadership experience, along with his problem-solving abilities and love of people, that make him a valuable asset to the Payne Trucking leadership team.
When not focusing on meeting customer needs, Marc can be found at the local baseball field teaching his Little League team to play and love the game. Marc also enjoys saltwater fishing and flying when his schedule allows.
